We can all talk about fitness and give plenty of tips, without even knowing a single thing about this topic. Also, we can base our advice on what others, as clueless as ourselves, are saying. The truth is that there are a lot of wrong fitness and health tips out there. And these can actually influence our daily workout.

Here are 6 of the most common of these so-called working out tips. Chances are you’ve heard and even followed them during your fit journey.

1. Don’t eat before your workouts - you’ll burn calories faster.

This is a huge mistake when it comes to an efficient and intense workout! This way, you risk losing muscle and never getting the right results out of your workouts. Also, your energy will be significantly decreased.

2. There’s an ideal part of the day to go to the gym.

Totally wrong! The best time to workout it is when you’re ready for it or when you have scheduled your training session. Many people say that working out in the morning boosts your energy, but there are others who prefer training late in the evening, because they feel like they’re getting more results. Choose the right time for you and strive for you goals!

3. If you workout, you’ll live longer.

No, you won’t necessary live longer, but you’re going to live healthier and you’ll most certainly feel better. We don’t know exactly if being fit means having more years to live, but we do know that we must take advantage of every moment of our lives and get better as the time goes by.

4. Lifting will make you bulky.

People who train seriously, have some knowledge, and are passionate about it, will always tell you that this affirmation is totally wrong. If you don’t exaggerate, you won’t get bulky from lifting weights - you’ll get stronger.

5. There’s an ideal weight you should have.

In fact, you just need to be fit, healthy and happy. Don’t worry about the amount of weight you should lose. Eventually, all the hard work will pay off. Each body is different and has its own, unique metabolism. Train in order to be healthy, fit and stronger, not to achieve the ideal weight, because all that matters is how you feel about yourself.

6. Pain leads to better results.

It seems like many advice state the fact that pain means determination and will provide you better results. In fact, pain won’t make you feel stronger, and you’ll risk to get injured. If you work out so hard that it makes you want to throw out, just take it as a message from your body and go at your own pace. You’ll get there!

Of course, there are many other working out myths that aren’t entirely true and many people believe them. It is important to listen to our body. A proper training process leads to progress and great results.
