Top 5 tips for preventing holiday weight gains... Number 5 saves me every day!

So it’s that time of the year again. We all love holidays and enjoy getting together with friends and family to escape that daily routine. Sounds great!  But what about workouts? What about those healthy meals we’re used to?  Well, things can get out of control if you let them. Here are some tips that will help you enjoy your holidays and not ruin your healthy habits:

1.Concentrate your workouts

We all know how busy this period can be but that is not an excuse for skipping your workouts. Try to concentrate your workouts, limit your breaks and get the job done quick and painless. In the end, any workout is better than no workout!

2. Get plenty of potassium

Potassium counterbalances sodium, so you retain less water.  Our favorite potassium possibilities: bananas, papayas, kiwis, strawberries, and cantaloupe.

3. Limit Alcohol

Avoid drinking too much alcohol especially if you plan to go to a party or go out with friends. The real trouble may come not from the calories , but from you losing control over what you eat and believe me, you'll regret this a lot!

4. Never Arrive Hungry

Don't go visit your family or attend a friend's party without eating something first. Being hungry can be a disaster when you have plenty of unhealthy foods available.  It will be very hard to resist temptations with an empty stomach so make sure you grab a bite before leaving home.

5. Limit 'Tastes' While Cooking

If you like to be the one doing all the work when it comes to cooking make sure you don't taste your "masterpiece" every 5 minutes.  It may sound silly but being aware of this fact and controlling yourself will help you keep off those holiday pounds.
