1. Avoid eating with a lot of friends

Although it may seem hard to believe, according to Brian Wansink, PhD, author of Mindless Eating, eating with seven or more friends can make you eat 96% more food .This means that basically you will be tempted to eat twice as normal.  Avoiding this can save you those unwanted calories.


2. Avoid using too much salad dressing

We all like the looks of a big healthy salad, but sometimes you have to admit that limiting your toppings and dressing would save you from a lot of effort in the gym. Lose some of the croutons, bacon and vinaigrette.


3. Don’t eat in front of the TV

Yes, yes..we know. It’s your favorite show and you don’t want to miss a single minute of it, but eating in front of the TV will make you eat more, research shows.


4. Make sure you get enough sleep

Lack of sleep will make you hungry. University of Chicago research has shown that people who only sleep 5-6 hours per night will fall into the trap of eating more unhealthy snacks during the day. Get a good night sleep and cut those calories.


5. Get rid of soda!

We all enjoy a nice cold soda but let’s not make it a habit.  There are 139 calories is a can of Coca Cola!


6. Stop eating buttered movie popcorn

It's tasty, I know! But that doesn’t mean you should eat it every single time you watch a movie.


7. Know yourself

Our body sends us signals a lot more than we actually realize. Get used to eating slower and be aware of how full you are. The moment to put down the fork is often a lot earlier than when you normally do it. Be aware and don’t overeat!


8. Drink water

Probably the most basic yet the most ignored advice for having a healthy life is drinking lots of water. You’ll be less inclined to eat as much if you already had a full glass of water.
